Do I NEED to say it again? Making nightmarish creatures is FUN, and I think I'm actually getting kind of good at it! On that note, check out Vita Carnis. It's been entirely too long since an analogue horror series has cost me sleep, and these freaky bastards were the ones to do it.

As you can see, I made lots of changes to the face as I went along. The first version I was pretty much going off vague memory, and made adjustments after I actually started looking up references. (Which are not easy to find, being it's analogue horror and thus prone to poor quality video and shaky cam.) I also tried to cheat on the teeth originally. They're just inset squares extruded and subdivided. Basically, the ONLY look decent from the direct front. After realizing the Mimics actually have flatter, more humanlike teeth I changed them for version 2, and eventually decided to stop being lazy and just make actual individual teeth for the rest. I'm also very happy with the skin texture I managed to get on this thing.

Finally, putting one of these monstrosities in my house was the perfect excuse to try out compositing in Blender. As in, putting a CG model into a photo or video. It's not a *terribly* complex process, and I would love to try it out with video footage one of these days.
